Enabling [the future]

What if the brain were accessible to direct communication with computers, advanced sensors…or any digital device?
Paradromics is making this possible.

Enabling [brain data]

The brain is a data organ. It needs a data interface.

Our mission

Direct data interfaces

Paradromics is the industry-leading developer of high data-rate brain-computer interface (BCI). We are building a direct data interface with the brain to enable technology solutions to unmet medical challenges.

Connexus® Direct Data Interface

Our Connexus Direct Data Interface (DDI) collects an unprecedented number of individual neural signals with an implantable, wireless device designed for long-term daily use.

Direct data from 1600+ neurons

The Connexus Cortical Modules target neurons just below the surface of the brain, accessing neural signals that surface electrodes cannot. The system supports up to four modules for more cortical coverage and improved capabilities.

Implantable form factor

The implanted system provides complex data handling of brain data with no through-skin ports or wires, for long-term, everyday use.

Cortical Module

An array of 421 miniature electrodes (< 40-μm) achieve an industry-leading high data rate while limiting tissue impact. The hermetically-sealed, on-chip Quartet® Neural Signal Transform, provides reliable, low-power conversion of neural signals to usable data.

Internal Transceiver

A near-infrared optical link provides up to 100 Mbps data transmission, and power is transferred inductively from a lightweight wearable.

Enabling [people]

Our first clinical use

Our first clinical application of the Connexus DDI will provide communication for severely motor-impaired people, essentially transforming patients’ neural data into text or synthesized speech.

Enabling [solutions]

Potential applications

The Connexus DDI will roll out as the highest data rate device of its kind, and the core technology architecture will support an order of magnitude increase in data rate. This massively scalable platform has broad potential for therapeutic and diagnostic application to countless neurological or brain-related disorders.

Providing autonomy of movement and communication to paralyzed people
Restoring sensation to people with sensory deficits
Detecting and treating mental illness

Enabling [the future]

A new medical paradigm

By making the brain accessible to direct communication with digital interfaces, we can leverage technology to solve some of our most difficult medical challenges. With their first clinical use on the horizon, we’ve only begun to realize the vast impact that direct data interfaces with the brain will have on the future of medicine.

Leveraging the vast brain data that we can access to solve difficult neurological and brain-related medical challenges.
